Madhya Pradesh Transfers Rs 489 Crore to Private Schools for RTE Fees of 8.45 Lakh Students

The payout extends a programme that has reached about 19 lakh children since 2011 through roughly Rs 3,000 crore in reimbursements.

  • Funds were credited digitally into 20,652 schools’ bank accounts during a public event via a single-click transfer.
  • The reimbursement covers the 2023–24 cohort admitted under the 25% entry-level quota for economically weaker and disadvantaged children mandated by the RTE Act.
  • Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced that notebooks and other study materials will be offered at affordable prices from the next academic year.
  • The government will provide textbooks and school bags to RTE-enrolled students in private institutions starting next session.
  • The programme also featured project inaugurations and foundation-layings, with senior education officials present, as the state highlighted ongoing support such as free uniforms, bicycles, laptops and scooties.
