Overview
- Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced at the Passenger Transport Vision Summit in Indore that the Mukhyamantri Sugam Parivahan Bus Seva will begin on September 25, with a 'Seva Sankalp' campaign starting in mid-September.
- The government created Madhya Pradesh Yatri Parivahan and Infrastructure Limited (MPYPIL) to run the scheme under a PPP model that officials say will expand the permitted fleet from about 11,000 to as many as 15,000 buses in phases.
- Officials presented a data-driven route blueprint covering roughly 150 city, 450 inter-city and 436 inter-state corridors to improve rural and urban connectivity and to reach a target of connecting 75% of gram panchayats.
- Passenger safety and operations will be governed by an Intelligent Transport Management System, real-time GPS tracking, seven CCTV cameras per bus, panic buttons and command-and-control centres, according to transport officials.
- The plan prioritises green fuel options with near-term additions of PM e-buses and charging depots with solar capacity, and the summit produced early MoUs such as an agreement with Rapido for first- and last-mile links.
