Overview

  • The June 27 MoU between MP Power Management Company and NHPC, approved by the Union Ministry of Power, formalises procurement of 252 MW from the Lower Dibang Valley project.
  • The multipurpose hydropower scheme on the Dibang river in Arunachal Pradesh is slated for commissioning by 2031–32 and also supports flood control and water management.
  • Officials say the new supply will cover over three hours of peak demand during the Rabi season and between nine and nineteen hours in other periods.
  • Madhya Pradesh’s power needs are projected to reach 20,000 MW by the end of the current financial year amid rising rural and irrigation-driven consumption.
  • The agreement complements the state’s renewable roadmap, which includes planned investments in solar and wind under central government schemes.
