Madden NFL 26 Patch 1.7 Lands on Switch 2 With Coaching Adjustment and Broad Fixes

EA focuses the latest Switch 2 update on player-requested tuning and stability as the port continues to run at a lower frame rate than other platforms.

Overview

  • EA released version 1.7 for Madden NFL 26 on September 17, delivering a substantial update to the Switch 2 port.
  • A new Coaching Adjustment lets players set a default pass protection scheme—ported from EA’s College Football—across Base, Empty, Half/Full Left or Right, and Default options.
  • Gameplay tuning includes deeper safety alignment at 16 yards, hook defenders at 5 yards, tweaks that make runners easier to track, and removal of an artificial Truck speed boost in open space.
  • Presentation and UX updates address tackling and hurdle animation bugs, add new likeness heads and UI fixes, and include audio changes such as commentary and mix adjustments plus a new Limp Bizkit track titled “Morgan Wallen.”
  • Stability improvements fix soft locks, crossplay crashes and lobby disconnects, resolve desyncs in 6v6 and Sick Six, and correct Franchise and Superstar issues like out-of-position players and missing season stats, with Nintendo Life noting generally positive community feedback and a persistent ~40fps frame rate on Switch 2.
