Macquarie Reports Stronger Q3 on Broad-Based Gains

Asset-management profit jumped after the sale of its public investments business.

Overview

  • Macquarie said third-quarter profit rose from a year earlier for the three months to Dec. 31, though it did not disclose absolute quarterly figures and described trading conditions as satisfactory.
  • Assets under management increased to A$736.1 billion at end-December, a 3% rise from September.
  • Commodities & Global Markets delivered a substantially higher net profit contribution year on year, and Macquarie Capital improved on asset realisations, private-credit returns and deal activity.
  • Year-to-date fiscal 2026 earnings were broadly in line with last year as stronger asset finance income offset higher operating expenses.
  • Shares rose as much as 4% after the update, and near-term markers pointed to higher investment-related income at Macquarie Capital, significantly higher net other operating income at Asset Management, and rising commodities income at CGM.
