Overview
- Users must back up their Mac with Time Machine, enroll their Apple ID at beta.apple.com and select macOS Tahoe 26 Public Beta under System Settings → General → Software Update → Beta Updates to begin testing.
- macOS Tahoe 26 brings a Liquid Glass interface overhaul, redesigned Spotlight with actions and iPhone search, a clipboard history manager, Live Activities support, and dedicated Journal and Phone apps for Mac.
- Apple’s official compatibility list covers Apple silicon MacBook Air and Pro models from 2020 onward, the 2019 Intel MacBook Pro 16-inch, 2020 Intel MacBook Pro 13-inch with four Thunderbolt 3 ports, 2020 and later iMac and Mac mini, Mac Studio 2022 and newer, and Mac Pro 2019 and newer.
- Support is dropped for several older machines, including 2018–2019 Intel MacBook Pro variants, 2019 iMac models and the 2018 Mac mini, so users should verify eligibility before enrolling.
- Future public beta updates and the final macOS Tahoe 26 release will arrive via Software Update in System Settings as Apple refines the software ahead of its official fall launch.
