Overview

• Authorities say Karl Williams Sr. stole a running GMC Acadia in Oak Park, robbed a Southfield Walgreens for cigarettes and then allegedly planned to rob a Warren car wash.
• At the car wash, he allegedly drove between two police cruisers and struck them, an officer fired one round that hit a passenger, and the vehicle then struck K‑9 Diezel.
• The pursuit reportedly topped 100 mph on Eight Mile Road before the SUV hit a median in Detroit, where officers arrested all four occupants.
• Macomb County filed more than a dozen counts, including conspiracy, felony firearm, fleeing and eluding, assault with a dangerous weapon and causing harm to a police animal.
• Williams is jailed on a $750,000 cash/surety bond with a Sept. 23 probable cause conference; passengers Shamari Smith, Frank Durham and Timothy Moultrie face conspiracy charges, and additional charges are expected in Oakland and Wayne counties.
