Mackey Gets 22 Years, Nieves 11 in Long Island Dismemberment Murders

A judge granted reduced terms under New York’s Domestic Violence Survivors Justice Act, sealing the abuse evidence submitted by the defense.

Overview

  • Under negotiated pleas, Jeffrey Mackey received two consecutive 11-year sentences and Alexis Nieves received one 11-year term, while Steven Brown was sentenced to five years and Amanda Wallace was previously sentenced in November.
  • Mackey pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, admitting he stabbed Malcolm “Craig” Brown and attacked Donna Conneely, and Nieves pleaded guilty to manslaughter for striking Conneely with a meat tenderizer during a strangling.
  • The February 2024 killings occurred in an Amityville home; the victims were dismembered and remains were found in Southards Pond Park, West Babylon and Bethpage State Park.
  • Supreme Court Justice John Collins sealed the defense filing that justified the reduced sentences, and relatives of the victims objected in court and disputed the abuse allegations.
  • Investigators linked Mackey and Nieves to the crime through the murder weapon, surveillance video and blood evidence, and prosecutors had suggested an argument over drugs and money after a planned gas station robbery preceded the killings.
