M65 Reopens After Overnight Crash as M11 Clears Following Morning Collision

Traffic officers moved vehicles aside to sweep debris, leaving residual delays.

Overview

  • The M65 westbound between junctions 10 (Burnley Barracks) and 9 (Rose Grove) was shut late Friday after a serious collision and reopened at about 6am Saturday.
  • Emergency services, Lancashire Police and National Highways traffic officers managed the M65 scene, with an official diversion via the A671 and A679 during the closure.
  • A separate collision on the M11 southbound between junctions 9 and 8 this morning closed two lanes and generated long queues near the route to Stansted Airport.
  • National Highways said all M11 lanes later reopened after vehicles were moved to the hard shoulder and debris was cleared, with traffic released shortly afterward.
  • Drivers were advised to plan ahead and allow extra time due to residual congestion on both corridors following the incidents.
