M62 Reopens After Serious Overnight Crash as M25 HGV Fire Shuts Key Stretch

Police seek dashcam footage from the M62 collision that left a 21-year-old in hospital.

Overview

  • West Yorkshire Police say a blue Kia Rio lost control and struck the central reservation eastbound just past junction 32 at about 2:10am on Monday.
  • The 21-year-old driver from the Manchester area received emergency treatment at the scene and was taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.
  • The M62 eastbound between junctions 32 and 32A was closed for recovery and investigations with a hollow-square diversion, reopening after lengthy queues around 9:15–9:30am.
  • Officers are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage, asking anyone with information to contact the Roads Policing Unit on 101 quoting police log 0084 of 22 September.
  • In separate incidents, the M25 is closed anti-clockwise between junctions 10 and 8 due to an HGV fire with a signed diversion and heavy delays, while Sunday saw an M6 crash where a driver fled and a 50-year-old man died after a suspected cardiac arrest at Birch services.
