Overview

• The M6 southbound between junctions 32 (Preston) and 33 (Lancaster) reopened overnight after being shut for most of Monday following the 10:27 am multi-vehicle collision.
• Nine people were hurt in the crash, among them a one-year-old boy and a six-year-old girl, and eight remain hospitalised with five sustaining serious injuries that are not life-threatening.
• One lane in each direction remains closed for central barrier repairs, contributing to residual slow traffic on this key north–south route.
