M6 Partially Closed Near Carnforth After Overturned Vehicle as New A50 Crashes Snarl Friday Commute

Two northbound lanes near Carnforth remain closed for recovery after traffic was briefly held in both directions.

  • Also on Thursday, an overturned vehicle on the M6 northbound between junctions 19 and 20 led to two lane closures and around six miles of congestion, with Cheshire Police noting a three-vehicle collision and injuries not yet confirmed.
  • A separate Thursday campervan fire on the A50 near Sideway was extinguished and later deemed accidental with no injuries, after causing heavy congestion on both the A50 and the A500.
