Overview

  • The M6 between junctions 27 and 28 remains closed northbound following a serious collision and lorry fire, with motorists diverted via a hollow diamond diversion route.
  • The M4 eastbound carriageway from junction 18 to 17 is shut due to a vehicle fire, triggering diversion via the A46 and A420 and causing delays of up to 30 minutes.
  • Two men injured in a single-vehicle crash on the M40 between junctions 15 and 16 were taken to separate hospitals after emergency services closed both sides of the carriageway.
  • Earlier crashes, breakdowns and hazardous spills on the M62, M25, M11, M42 and M54 have mostly cleared but continue to cause residual congestion amid ongoing barrier repairs and clean-up operations.
  • National Highways and emergency services are urging drivers to plan extra travel time and follow diversion signage during the summer peak.
