M5 Junction 26 to Introduce 50mph Limits From Late October for Flood-Alleviation Works

National Highways will run a drainage upgrade with three narrow lanes in place to cut risk from frequent flooding.

Overview

  • Works at the Wellington junction start on 20 October 2025 and are expected to complete by the end of February 2026.
  • A 50mph limit runs northbound from 28 October 2025 to 19 February 2026 and southbound from 2 November 2025 to 11 February 2026.
  • Overnight and full closures are scheduled with signed diversions between junctions 25 and 27, including routes via the A358 and A38.
  • The programme covers de‑silting, gully renewal, resurfacing, replacement of blocked drainage pipes, updated road markings, and camera surveys.
  • Separate night-time works between junctions 28 and 30 continue into December, adding further closures on the southbound carriageway.
