• National Highways says the motorway remains shut in both directions between Cullompton (J28) and Honiton/Exeter (J29) as the incident is managed.
• The HGV was a car transporter carrying electric vehicles, with large plumes of smoke reported visible across the area.
• Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service has five appliances and a water bowser at the scene, supported by police, ambulance crews and National Highways officers.
• Southbound drivers are being diverted via the A373 and B3181 through Cullompton and Broadclyst to rejoin at J30, while northbound traffic is routed via the A30, Ambassador Drive/Cumberland Way and the B3181 to rejoin at J28.
• Motorists are advised to avoid the area, allow extra time or delay travel, with warnings that journeys to Exeter International Airport may be affected.
