  • The Servicio Sismológico Nacional reported a magnitude 4.0 earthquake at 1:26 a.m. local time on Monday south of Pinotepa Nacional, Oaxaca.
  • SSN placed the epicenter at 16.26°, -98.067° with a depth of 8 kilometers.
  • The tremor followed two quakes the previous night measuring 4.0 and 4.2, according to SSN.
  • Mexico City’s seismic alert did not sound because the shaking fell below SASMEX criteria, which require stronger magnitudes at the distances involved.
  • Authorities reported no injuries or structural damage, and Protección Civil reiterated standard safety steps such as keeping calm, avoiding glass and heavy furniture, and following official instructions.
