Overview

• Police and ambulance crews reopened the M11 between junctions 11 and 12 just before 4pm on Tuesday after a lorry–car crash closed both sides for nearly 11 hours.

• A lorry carrying hay bales caught fire on the M25 anti‑clockwise between junctions 25 and 24, with National Highways reporting up to two‑hour delays and around 13 miles of congestion as trapped traffic was released.
• On the M1 northbound between junctions 10 and 11, an overturned fully loaded HGV spilled diesel, closed three lanes and triggered a slow recovery that requires load removal and resurfacing, leading to lengthy queues.
• The M53 was closed between junctions 7 and 6 after a crash, with all emergency services attending; the southbound side later reopened while the northbound carriageway remained shut with diversions and heavy congestion.
