Georges Mikautadze, a forward for Olympique Lyonnais, was the victim of an armed robbery at his home on Sunday after his team’s 4-1 victory over Nice.
Two armed men reportedly confronted Mikautadze at his residence, forcing him to hand over valuables worth an estimated €150,000 to €200,000 ($157,000 to $210,000).
The 24-year-old player assured fans via social media that he was physically unharmed and expressed gratitude for their messages of support.
Mikautadze joined Lyon from Metz in July 2024 and has contributed four goals and one assist in 17 appearances this season.
Local authorities and media have not disclosed further details about the suspects or the ongoing investigation into the robbery.
