Overview

  • Lynyrd Skynyrd headlined the main stage overnight into June 28, delivering classics such as “What’s Your Name,” “Freebird” and “Sweet Home Alabama” with Johnny Van Zant and Rickey Medlocke leading a nine-piece lineup.
  • Midway through its ninth edition, Barcelona Rock Fest has drawn around 100,000 attendees from over 75 countries to Parc de Can Zam, blending power metal, garage-glam, blues and southern rock.
  • The preceding day featured Running Wild’s pirate-themed power metal assault before their largest Barcelona crowd and The Hellacopters’ garage-glam showcase of tracks from their new album Overdriver.
  • Spanish act La Gripe y Tú honored Platero y Tú’s legacy with “María Magdalena” and “Si tú te vas” while Deborah Bonham closed her blues-inflected set with a rendition of Led Zeppelin’s “Rock’n’roll.”
  • The festival runs through June 29 with upcoming performances that will continue to highlight heavy metal, hard rock and veteran legacies alongside regional talent.
