Lynne Roberts Named Head Coach of Los Angeles Sparks

Lynne Roberts, previously head coach at the University of Utah, has been hired as the new head coach of the Los Angeles Sparks, marking her first move to the WNBA.
Roberts, known for transforming collegiate programs, inherits a team that finished last season with an 8–32 record but features a promising young core and the No. 2 pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft.
General Manager Raegan Pebley highlighted Roberts’ leadership, forward-thinking basketball mind, and ability to develop players as key reasons for her selection during an extensive coaching search.
Roberts plans to establish the Sparks as a leading WNBA franchise, leveraging Los Angeles’ market and her relationships with local NCAA coaches to grow women’s basketball in the region.
The Sparks are also investing in infrastructure, with plans to announce a dedicated practice facility to support the team’s long-term success.
