Overview

  • The Jerez-born horseman emerged as a leading figure in the 1970s as part of the celebrated quartet known as “Los cuatro jinetes de la apoteosis” with Ángel and Rafael Peralta and José Samuel Lupi.
  • He debuted as a rejoneador in 1959 and retired in 1985, marking a career highlighted by a puerta grande at Madrid’s Las Ventas in 1983.
  • He founded the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art in Jerez after creating the show “Cómo bailan los caballos andaluces,” later taking Andalusian horse exhibitions to stages such as Madison Square Garden.
  • As head of the Torrestrella brand, he developed a renowned bloodline and bred cattle at the Los Alburejos estate until 2020.
  • He received numerous distinctions including the 2024 Medalla de Andalucía, the Caballo de Oro, and the title Hijo Predilecto de Jerez, while also running a namesake bodega and promoting equestrian tourism such as the “A campo abierto” show.
