Luxury Hotel Sauna Dispute Ends in €7,900 Compensation Ruling

A German court awarded damages after a fight over a reserved sauna lounger left one man hospitalized with a broken nose.

The altercation occurred in the sauna area of a luxury hotel when one guest removed another's belongings from a lounger to use it himself.
The original lounger reserver, upon discovering the situation, confronted the other guest, leading to a physical fight.
The injured guest suffered a broken nose requiring surgery and a three-day hospital stay, prompting him to sue for damages.
The Nürnberg-Fürth Regional Court ruled that the injured man was entitled to €7,900 in compensation, including €3,000 for pain and suffering and €4,900 for medical costs.
The court also determined the injured party shared 25% of the blame for the incident, as he should have sought assistance from hotel staff instead of acting unilaterally.
