Overview

• Grand Duke Henri will abdicate at 10:00 at the Grand Ducal Palace, followed by Guillaume’s oath at 11:00 in the Chamber of Deputies.
• Henri steps down after nearly 25 years on the throne, with Maria Teresa and their four other children present for the abdication signing.
• Belgium’s King Philippe, Queen Mathilde and Princess Elisabeth, as well as the Netherlands’ King Willem-Alexander, Queen Máxima and Princess Catharina-Amalia, are on the guest list.
• France’s President Emmanuel Macron and Brigitte Macron, Germany’s President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Elke Büdenbender, plus EU leaders Roberta Metsola and António Costa are expected to attend.
• Guillaume told RTL he feels stressed ahead of the handover, as a three-day program includes balcony greetings, nationwide visits on Oct. 4 and a cathedral service on Oct. 5.
