Luther 'Uncle Luke' Campbell, former frontman of 2 Live Crew, is preparing to run for Congress in Florida's 20th Congressional District.
Campbell plans to leverage his star power and a documentary film to challenge incumbent Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick.
The rapper's political committee, launched in January, seeks to unseat Cherfilus-McCormick, who faces a House Ethics Committee probe.
Campbell's campaign will focus on fighting divisive politics and bringing something back to the community.
If he files by April 26, Campbell will compete in the August 20 primary against Cherfilus-McCormick.
