Lupita Nyong'o Confirms She Is Not Dating Longtime Friend Janelle Monáe

Lupita Nyong'o clarified in an interview this week that she is not romantically involved with singer and actress Janelle Monáe, despite long-standing rumors.
Nyong'o and Monáe have been close friends since meeting at the Met Gala in 2014 and bonded over their shared interest in keeping parts of their lives private.
Monáe identifies as pansexual and nonbinary, using both she/her and they/them pronouns, while Nyong'o says she is in a relationship with Selema Masekela.
Though they have worked together and appeared on red carpets together, Nyong'o says there is still much she does not know about the enigmatic Monáe.
Monáe's highly anticipated new album "The Age of Pleasure" will be released on June 9.
