Lumberton Mayor Gina LaPlaca Faces DUI and Child Endangerment Charges

Gina LaPlaca was arrested on March 17, 2025, after allegedly driving drunk with her 2-year-old son in the car, narrowly avoiding a crash.
Police discovered an open container of alcohol in her vehicle, and LaPlaca admitted to drinking before picking up her son from daycare.
She faces multiple charges, including DUI, reckless driving, child endangerment, and driving with an expired license, and is scheduled to appear in court on April 28.
LaPlaca's husband, Jason Carty, has acknowledged her struggles with addiction and stated that she is now seeking help.
The incident follows her resignation as Neptune Township business administrator earlier this month, citing a 'changing political environment.'
