Lululemon’s Newbury Street Store Hit Twice in a Week; Two Suspects Flee With Hundreds in Merchandise

Police are seeking tips in active investigations into repeat thefts at the Back Bay store.

Overview

  • Officers responded around 4:55 p.m. Sunday to 208 Newbury Street, where two juvenile female suspects fled on foot after allegedly taking several hundred dollars in clothing.
  • Investigators have not determined whether the latest theft is connected to an Oct. 13 incident at the same store in which at least three people stole about $6,140 and drove off in a dark-colored sedan.
  • No arrests have been made in either Newbury Street case, and police have asked the public to contact detectives at 617-343-5619 or submit anonymous tips via 1-800-494-TIPS or text CRIME (27463) with the word TIP.
  • Police also reported a Sept. 28 theft of roughly $700 at Lululemon in the Prudential Center, with media accounts differing on suspect ages across the separate incidents.
  • Back Bay business leaders say police will increase walking and bicycle patrols after larceny rose in the D-4 district, as Lululemon says it is strengthening security and working with investigators.
