Luke Harden, 36, Named in Bacup Murder Inquiry as Police Hold Two Suspects

Officers are seeking specific late-night footage as they work to establish how he died.

Overview

  • A 26-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman from Bacup were arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in custody after police were granted extra time to question them.
  • Patrolling officers found paramedics attempting to resuscitate Mr Harden at about 12.30–12.35am on November 1 on Newchurch Road, where he was pronounced dead.
  • A Home Office post-mortem was carried out on Sunday to determine the cause of death as detectives continue enquiries led by the major investigations team.
  • Detectives appealed for witnesses and for dashcam or doorbell footage from 11.45pm to 12.35am, and for anyone at the Rosemount Working Men's Club on October 31 to contact 101 or forcecontrolroom@lancashire.police.uk quoting log 50 of November 1.
  • Mr Harden’s family issued a tribute through police, who also urged people not to share misinformation and clarified the male suspect is not an asylum seeker, with increased uniformed patrols in the area.
