Overview

• A 26-year-old man was struck multiple times with a baseball bat around 3:45 p.m. Friday in the 5400 block of South Wells Street alongside the Dan Ryan Expressway.
• He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center and pronounced dead at 4:13 p.m., authorities said.
• The Cook County medical examiner identified the victim as Luis Acalderon and said an autopsy is planned.
• Chicago police say the attacker drove off in a dark-colored SUV and has not been arrested.
• Wentworth Area detectives are investigating and have not released a motive for the confrontation.
