Luigi Mangione Held in Solitary Confinement at MDC Brooklyn

The Ivy League engineer faces state and federal murder charges while awaiting trial in a high-security unit of the notorious detention center.

Luigi Mangione, accused of murdering UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, is being held in administrative segregation at MDC Brooklyn for heightened security.
Mangione, 26, was extradited from Pennsylvania earlier this month and has pleaded not guilty to state and federal charges, including murder and stalking.
He resides in a single cell with limited recreational time and access to commissary purchases, awaiting his next court appearance on February 21, 2025.
Sean 'Diddy' Combs, also detained at MDC Brooklyn on unrelated sex trafficking charges, is being held in a separate unit with no contact with Mangione.
Prison officials have not disclosed whether Mangione and Combs will eventually share the same floor, citing safety and privacy protocols.
