Overview
- Lufthansa says the airline will ferry its first A350-1000 (registration D‑AIFA) from Airbus’s Toulouse plant to Munich in mid-November and put it into passenger service on 3 December on flight LH 714 to Tokyo Haneda.
- The aircraft is named “Deutschland,” carries a 100‑year anniversary special livery and marks the 700th Airbus delivered to the Lufthansa Group.
- The A350-1000 is configured for about 300 passengers across four classes, offers business suites and a two‑seat first class option, and Airbus states the type uses about 25% less fuel than prior-generation widebodies.
- Lufthansa plans to base the first ten A350-1000s at its Munich hub and expects all 15 on order to be delivered through 2030, a move meant to concentrate modern long‑haul capacity at Munich and expand Asia rotations to Shanghai and Singapore after the Tokyo launch.
- The airline has also reported kerosene supply problems at Frankfurt that could affect short‑term operations, a logistical issue Lufthansa says it is managing while it rolls out the new fleet plan.
