Ludhiana Police Wound Two in ISI-Linked Module Bust After Grenade Trap

Investigators say a Pakistan-based handler directed the cell via virtual numbers.

Overview

  • Two men were shot and detained after allegedly firing on officers during a trap near the Ladhowal Toll Plaza in Ludhiana, with one in critical condition, police said.
  • Officers recovered two Chinese 86P hand grenades, five pistols and more than 40 rounds, and registered an FIR at Jodhewal under the Explosives and Arms Acts.
  • Police said the network was being run by an ISI-linked handler in Pakistan and tasked operatives with grenade attacks targeting government buildings and public places.
  • Three alleged associates — Arsh from Bihar, Ajay from Haryana and Shamsher from Punjab — were arrested earlier as part of the same multi-state module with suspected Lawrence Bishnoi links.
  • Police later identified the injured pair as Deepak alias Deepu and Ram Lal from Rajasthan and named the handler as Jasveer alias Choudhary, saying they were sent to execute a grenade strike in Punjab.
