Lucrecia Martel’s Landmarks Wins London Film Festival’s Top Prize

Overview

• The Official Competition jury said the film displays deep empathy and extraordinary journalistic rigor, granting an Indigenous community a measure of justice long denied by the courts.
• The documentary investigates the 2009 killing of Chuschagasta leader Javier Chocobar and the legacy of contested land rights in Argentina’s Tucumán Province.
• Landmarks is Martel’s first documentary and her first feature since 2017’s Zama.
• Other awards went to Vincho Nchogu’s One Woman One Bra (Sutherland Award), David Bingong’s The Travelers (Grierson Award), and Said Zagha’s Coyotes (Short Film Award).
• The festival closed with the UK premiere of Julia Jackman’s 100 Nights of Hero, with audience award voting continuing through Monday before winners are announced.
