Lucknow Seizes Over 13 Kg of Hydroponic Cannabis and Mumbai Arrests Passenger With 12.26 Kg

Customs says intelligence-led checks are exposing organised smuggling routes from Southeast Asia.

  • Mohammad Imran of Bijnor was detained with 7.7 kg and allegedly told officials the bags were handed to him in Bangkok for delivery to a man named Sameer in Lucknow.
  • Another passenger, identified as Manikant, failed to claim luggage containing 6.9 kg; a manhunt is underway and the case has been handed to a central agency.
  • In Mumbai a day earlier, Customs at CSMIA arrested a passenger arriving from Kuala Lumpur after finding 12.26 kg concealed in a checked‑in trolley bag, booking the accused under the NDPS Act.
  • Two additional Mumbai cases the same week involved Tamil Nadu residents Krishnamoorthy Ramasamy and Abdul Kadhar Bilal carrying 2,012 g and 1,932 g from Ho Chi Minh City and Bangkok, and Ramasamy admitted transporting the consignment for ₹15,000, according to Customs.
