Luces de Invierno Enters Final Weekend at Mexico City’s Zócalo With Free Concerts

The city festival returns from a Reforma New Year’s event to close the season alongside light displays scheduled to come down after January 6.

Overview

  • Friday’s rock program features Neptuna at 5 p.m., Los Amantes de Lola at 6 p.m. and La Barranca at 7:40 p.m. on the Zócalo stage with free entry.
  • Saturday’s lineup begins in the late afternoon with Fania Delena and La Rebelión Cumbiera, followed by La Orquesta de Pérez Prado, Jorge Carmona, Orquesta Canela of Colombia and DJ Santiago Show.
  • Sunday’s finale brings Ibrahim Ferrer Jr. with Legado Buena Vista Social Club, Valeria Jasso and DJ Ari Vargas, with Chilean rapper Ana Tijoux slated as the closing act.
  • The concerts run in tandem with holiday installations including a mega nativity, illuminated pines and a light tunnel that are expected to be removed after Reyes Magos on January 6.
  • The Zócalo shows follow a temporary shift to Paseo de la Reforma for a massive electronic-music New Year’s celebration before programming returned to the Plaza Mayor.
