Overview
- DMTCL awarded Larsen & Toubro the CP09 and CP10 packages on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, covering track and electrical systems plus signalling, telecommunications and platform screen doors for Dhaka Metro Line 1.
- The two packages are reported to be worth between ₹5,000 crore and ₹10,000 crore, a figure described in coverage as either 'over ₹5,000 crore' or up to ₹10,000 crore.
- Under CP09 L&T will handle design, procurement, installation, testing and commissioning of track works, traction substations, overhead catenary and power distribution, and the company says it will partner with Japan’s Sumitomo on that package.
- CP10 tasks L&T with delivering the signalling, telecoms and platform screen doors across the roughly 31 km project, functions that control train movement, support operations and improve passenger safety in underground stations.
- Line 1 is a JICA-funded, two-route programme with 19 stations and a Pitalganj depot intended to ease Dhaka congestion and link the airport and Purbachal, and L&T’s win follows its prior delivery of systems for Dhaka Metro Line 6.
