- Lt. Gen. Michael Borgschulte officially assumed command at Dahlgren Hall Friday as the 66th superintendent and the academy’s first Marine Corps leader.
- President Trump nominated Borgschulte in July and the Senate confirmed him later that month in a swift, expedited process.
- A 1991 Naval Academy graduate and decorated AH-1 Cobra pilot, Borgschulte previously served as deputy commandant for manpower and reserve affairs at Quantico and led the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing.
- In his inaugural address, the new superintendent pledged to cultivate a warrior ethos centered on combat readiness and to prepare midshipmen to “fight and win.”
- Vice Adm. Yvette Davids, the academy’s first female and first Hispanic superintendent, will move to the Pentagon as deputy chief of naval operations for operations, plans, strategy and warfighting development and is expected to be renominated for promotion to vice admiral.
