LSU Rally Clinches 6–5 Win Over Arkansas to Reach CWS Finals

The Tigers overcame a two-run deficit with a three-run ninth inning to set up a best-of-three championship series against Coastal Carolina starting June 21.

Overview

  • LSU scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth, capped by Jared Jones’s walk-off single, to erase a 5–3 deficit and beat Arkansas 6–5 in the semifinal.
  • Arkansas had built a 5–3 lead on Ryder Helfrick’s solo home run and Justin Thomas Jr.’s two-run single in the ninth but fell short of the two wins needed to reach the title series.
  • The victory avenged LSU’s 4–1 opening-round loss to Arkansas and marked the Tigers’ second defeat of the Razorbacks in Omaha.
  • Arkansas reached the semifinals by eliminating UCLA 7–3 and earlier featured Gage Wood’s 19-strikeout no-hitter against Murray State.
  • LSU will now face unbeaten Coastal Carolina in the best-of-three College World Series championship beginning June 21.
