LPGA Q-Series Shortened to 72 Holes as Weather Halts Play, Field to Finish Without a Cut

Officials plan to use both Magnolia Grove courses to finish by Tuesday.

Overview

  • After multiple suspensions for rain and a darkness stoppage at 4:15 p.m. local on Sunday, the LPGA trimmed the Final Qualifying from 90 to 72 holes.
  • There will be no cut under the revised plan, and the top 25 finishers and ties are slated to earn LPGA cards, according to the LPGA announcement reported by Yahoo Sports.
  • Both the Falls and Crossings courses at Magnolia Grove will be used to complete the third and fourth rounds by Tuesday, Dec. 9.
  • Germany’s Helen Briem leads at 11 under early in Round 3, with Ana Belac, Dongeun Lee, Perrine Delacour and Leah John two shots back.
  • Separately at PGA Tour Q-School, the final round in Valdosta was canceled and scores reverted to 54 holes, drawing player criticism as the Tour contacted at least one player about reviewing the policy.
