LP Gas Tariff Hits Five-Year High at 3.51 Pesos as CNE Posts Aug. 24–30 Price Range

ANPEC warns the adjustment risks higher household bills.

Overview

  • The LP gas distribution tariff rose from 2.31 to 3.51 pesos per liter effective August 19, according to ANPEC.
  • The CNE’s weekly bulletin for August 24–30 lists Mexico City’s minimum at 10.59 pesos per liter and a maximum of 19.61 pesos per kilogram in the capital.
  • Regional dispersion persists, with Baja California reported above 23 pesos per liter and Baja California Sur up to 23.18 pesos per kilogram, while parts of Coahuila are at 17.90 pesos per kilogram.
  • Authorities and industry say the adjustment supports distributors facing tight margins, but ANPEC cautions that higher logistics and household energy costs could follow.
  • ANPEC’s July–August survey shows the 44‑product basic food basket rose 0.12% to an average price of 1,966.36 pesos.
