Overview
- LMPD responded around 7:30 p.m. Saturday after a tugboat reported a vehicle drove off the downtown Louisville waterfront near Joe's Crab Shack.
- The River Unit located a submerged car about 9 p.m., and no occupant was found inside.
- Crews suspended the search Saturday night because of fast currents, and river traffic that was stopped during the operation later reopened.
- Plans to resume on Sunday were scaled back when the River Unit and Dive Team determined conditions were still too dangerous to continue.
- Investigators have not established whether the vehicle entered the river accidentally or intentionally.
