Overview
- Officers were called about 2:30 p.m. to the 1800 block of Greenwood Avenue in the California neighborhood and found a 14-year-old with a gunshot wound.
- LMPD says the teen accidentally shot himself; he was taken to UofL Hospital, where he died, and the Homicide Unit is leading that investigation.
- Around 7 p.m., a woman arrived at UofL Hospital with a gunshot wound to her leg after initially reporting a robbery near Osage Avenue and 22nd Street.
- Just after 10 p.m., LMPD spokesperson Dwight Mitchell issued a correction, saying the woman’s injury was an accidental self-inflicted gunshot in the area of National Turnpike.
- The Non-Fatal Shooting Unit is investigating the woman’s case and no arrests have been announced.
