Louisville OIG Investigator Charged in Domestic Shooting Appears in Court

The police watchdog office placed her on suspension pending a domestic violence investigation.

  • Police say the shooting occurred around 11 p.m. Saturday in the 8700 block of Warbler Branch Way in southern Jefferson County, leaving a man with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the arm.
  • According to court documents, an argument preceded the incident as the victim tried to leave, Carter struck his windshield, then fired at his vehicle from the garage, and the victim was hit after stepping out.
  • Carter admitted to officers that she shot the victim, and investigators reported recovering a firearm from her bedroom.
  • Inspector General Ed Harness confirmed Carter works as an investigator for the Office of Inspector General and said she is suspended without pay while LMPD’s Domestic Violence Unit conducts the case.
