Overview

• LMPD's Non-Fatal Shooting Unit arrested Reginald Offutt Jr., 27, on second-degree assault (complicity), with arraignment set for Thursday morning.
• His father, Reginald Offutt, 67, was arrested Aug. 13 on first- and second-degree assault and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, and his bond was set at $100,000.
• Arrest citations say Offutt Jr. pulled the 25-year-old victim inside and beat him with a blunt object until it broke before Offutt fired multiple shots.
• The victim fled and was taken by his girlfriend to U of L Health Jewish Hospital with gunshot wounds to the back and abdomen and a head laceration, and police reported the injuries were not life-threatening.
• Police say the man had gone to the apartment to pick up one of his girlfriend's children due to a reported history of domestic violence involving Offutt and the woman.
