Louisiana Woman Fatally Stabs Sex Offender in Self-Defense

A woman in Louisiana defended herself by fatally stabbing Nicholas Tranchant, a twice-convicted sex offender, after he attempted to sexually assault her at a laundromat.
The incident occurred in broad daylight around 3:30 p.m. on Sunday in Lacombe, a rural community northeast of New Orleans.
Tranchant, who had been released from prison in December after serving 15 years, was armed with a sharp weapon during the attack.
The woman was able to gain control of the weapon and use it to defend herself before fleeing to safety; she was later treated for injuries sustained during the altercation.
Sheriff Randy Smith praised the woman for her courage and strength in fighting back against her attacker.
