Louisiana Mayor Arrested in Drug Trafficking and Misconduct Investigation

Bogalusa Mayor Tyrin Truong faces multiple charges, including drug-related offenses, misuse of public funds, and solicitation of prostitution.

Tyrin Truong, the 25-year-old mayor of Bogalusa, Louisiana, was arrested following a months-long investigation into a local drug trafficking organization.
Authorities allege Truong engaged in drug-related financial transactions, solicited prostitution, and misused taxpayer funds to rent an Airbnb during a mayoral conference in Atlanta.
The investigation, launched in April 2024, uncovered the distribution of opioids, MDMA, high-grade marijuana, and THC products, with social media platforms used to manage sales and payments.
Profits from the drug operation were reportedly used to purchase firearms, some of which were linked to violent crimes and sold to individuals prohibited from owning weapons.
Truong, who became Bogalusa’s youngest mayor in 2022, is one of seven individuals arrested in connection with the case, with further investigations ongoing.
