Paramount is centralizing BET operations, shifting BET Studios into a CBS Studios label.

Overview

  • Carr will report to TV Media chair George Cheeks and will continue serving as BET’s president of media sales.
  • BET Studios will operate as a label within CBS Studios, with Aisha Summers-Burke expected to continue leading the unit.
  • Paramount is folding BET’s corporate functions into TV Media shared services across communications, finance, BALA, marketing and research following Skydance’s August acquisition.
  • Cheeks’ memo did not specify the organizational home for BET+ or whether a senior programming executive will be appointed under Carr.
  • Mills departs after 23 years and is credited with expanding BET beyond cable through the launches of BET+, BET Studios and co-branded FAST channels.
