Overview
- The oral trial at Tribunal Oral N°17 returned Wednesday with new testimony in the 2021 operation that killed Cristian Zárate and left five other patients with serious injuries.
- Zárate’s widow, Romina Scioli, told judges the patient lost large amounts of blood and called Lotocki an “assassin” while demanding a clear ruling on responsibility.
- Lotocki faces a homicide charge under the legal theory homicidio simple con dolo eventual that carries a potential prison term of 8 to 25 years if convicted.
- Several colleagues and clinic staff are also accused, including the clinic director, two other surgeons, an anesthesiologist and a pathologist, with the instrumentadora separately charged with aggravated concealment for allegedly hiding Lotocki’s phone.
- The court is hearing pericial evidence and additional witnesses to reconstruct the operation and assign individual blame, with the next scheduled session set for September 2.
