  • Los Angeles County Department of Public Health and the Veterinary Public Health Department are collecting reports from veterinarians and owners through a formal investigation platform.
  • The Venice Canal Association has distributed flyers and a QR code reporting system to gather real‐time data from affected dog owners and veterinarians.
  • Veterinarians have found no clear cause despite clean bloodwork, while dogs continue to suffer seizures, vomiting, collapse and cardiac arrest.
  • Officials have also noted duck deaths in the canals, raising concerns about toxic algae blooms, rodent poison or other waterborne contaminants.
