Overview

  • Michael Meiser admitted in federal court on July 10 to possessing more than 1.1 pounds of heroin with intent to distribute inside a Castaic jail.
  • He faces a mandatory minimum sentence of five years in prison and up to 40 years when he is sentenced by Judge Fernando M. Olguin on December 11.
  • Plea documents show that in April 2024 Meiser met inmate associates at a Valencia Chevron station to receive heroin hidden in Pringles cans and $15,000 arranged via Cash App.
  • Meiser concealed the narcotics under computer towers in a patrol car’s trunk and carried cash plus a loaded handgun in a backpack within the jail’s secure parking area.
  • Since his arrest, the sheriff’s department has deployed drug-sniffing dogs and upgraded mail and body scanners across county jails to bolster contraband controls.
